James Carter was a full time staff writer for former newspaper giant Knight Ridder for five years. He is the author of the novel ILLEGALS, published under his pen name, J. P.Bone, a book Martin Sheen said "tells a moving story about our nation's immigrants." Carter served as Executive Director of the Albany Chamber of Commerce for four years where he established the Green Albany Project, an innovative program that helped businesses divert hundreds of tons of organics from landfills, increase their recycling, and switch to energy-efficient technology. He chairs the City of Albany's Clean and Green Task Force, created to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions by residents and businesses and to attract firms doing alternative energy R&D to that city's redevelopment district. Carter is the publisher of the online magazine, These Green Times, and is organizing the nation's first Green Chamber of Commerce.
