Sharon Sarris

Sharon Sarris provides services related to green building, including goal development for green buildings, proposals for existing building renovation and retrofit, and assistance to building owners seeking LEED certification for their projects.
Sarris is a LEED Accredited Professional. She serves as the co-chair of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Northern California Chapter’s (NCC) Monterey Bay Committee, and is a member of the Chapter’s Steering Committee and Advocacy Committee. She led a successful state-wide effort for the USGBC in 2004 to maintain the California Division of State Architect’s guidelines on the use of water-conserving fixtures. She also spoke at the PG&E / USGBC NCC 2005 Water Conservation Showcase on water-saving fixtures.
Sharon Sarris retired from General Motors in 1999 as Director of Environmental Communications. In her sixteen years with GM, she managed project teams comprised of engineering, R&D and manufacturing in GM’s highest quality U.S. plant in Fremont, California and at the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. She served as a quality improvement and organizational development director for the GM Technical Center. Sarris was also a member of the innovative team that introduced GM’s EV1 electric vehicle in California and Arizona in the mid-1990s.
Sarris is a member of the Building Green Network (Monterey Bay) Steering Committee and an advisor to the Central Coast Commercial Sustainability Network. She also is a member of The Sustainability Academy Board of Directors in Monterey. Sarris was elected and served on the Board of Trustees of Schoolcraft (Community) College in Livonia, Michigan for two terms.
